Dear Maven - Food Safety

Dear Maven,

I see that many of the holders this season are shown with candy and food. What, if any, testing was done to ensure this is safe for my family?

So glad you’re thinking about your customers’ safety and cleanliness. Once again, we haven’t let you down. All of the holders shown are compliant with stringent industry standards set by ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) for food.

I know this seems like common sense, but you just gotta say it to some people, so we recommend hand washing (avoid the dishwasher—those things are so high-powered nowadays) using a mild soap and drying. You wouldn’t eat from it before washing it would you? I didn’t think so! Again, not to insult your intelligence, but our holders are not oven or microwave safe either.

Candle Quote

The other day when I was walking through the woods, I saw a rabbit standing in front of a candle making shadows of people on a tree.

Meaning of Purple

Meaning of the Color Purple

Purple embodies the balance of red simulation and blue calm. This dichotomy can cause unrest or uneasiness unless the undertone is clearly defined at which point the purple takes on the characteristics of its undertone. A sense of mystic and royal qualities, purple is a color often well liked by very creative or eccentric types and is the favorite color of adolescent girls.

How the color purple affects us mentally and physically
* Uplifting
* Calming to mind and nerves
* Offers a sense of spirituality
* Encourages creativity

Candle Care

When it comes to candles and keeping them burning their best, there are some tips and tricks you can use:

Wicks – Keep your wicks to a ¼” long when you light them.  Any longer and the candle will burn too hot which means it will not last as long as well as burn hotter which can cause blackening on the jar.

Vents/Drafts/Fans – Keep your candle away from these items, especially if it is not in a jar or other holder and the air hits the wick directly.  This can cause uneven burning, hotter burning, or other issues.

Burn Level – Do not burn your candle right down to the bottom as you can end up destroying the jar or holder.

Sun – Keep your candles out of the sun, as it can cause them to fade as well as it can soften the wax or cause your candle to misshapen.

Safety – Of course, it goes without saying that you do not burn your candle anywhere near flammable materials.  This means near curtains, bedding or anything else that can easily catch fire.

Never leave a burning candle unattended or where a child or pet can get to it and knock it over.  Make sure to extinguish a candle before going to bed or leaving your home.

Scent Recipe - Gingerbread Morning

Gingerbread Morning

·        16 oz. Brown Sugar Spookie
·        8 oz. Gingerbread House
·        Cinnamon votives (3)

Feel the warmth as you wake up to the comforting scent of spicy cinnamon and brown sugar. This blend is coated with rich cinnamon aromas and accented with the sweetest hints of sugar and vanilla.

Scent Blending Recipes are carefully selected recipes of individual candles that when burning together, create their own unique, blended scent experience.
To maximize your fragrant experience, use the exact sizes and quantities noted in each recipe – a slight alteration can be like adding salt when you needed sugar.

FIRST: Arrange the candles on a heat-safe surface with the largest in the middle and smaller candles interspersed throughout. For votive and Tealight candles, use a holder to protect the surface.

SECOND: Place each candle approximately two inches apart in your arrangement.

THIRD: Light each candle and let the aromas mingle for at least 30 minutes to create your new fragrance experience.
