Lee Ann Womack: My Favorite Escape (from People Magazine

"The one place you can go where no one can get to you is the bathroom." Womack's nightly ritual also means unwinding with her favorite bubbles (Estée Lauder Beautiful bath gel), Gold Canyon candles and a little TV (there's a set near the tub) for the news and weather. "Even a quick bath relaxes me," she says. "But if I have time, I'll stay in and just keep refilling the hot water. It feels so good!"

Candle Quote

The other day when I was walking through the woods, I saw a rabbit standing in front of a candle making shadows of people on a tree.

Did you know….. Candles on Warmers

Many people like to use their jar candles on those warmers that you are able to buy.  While it seems like a great idea as you do not have the flame, it really is not beneficial for the candle, and you will find when you decide to burn the candle that the scent is not as strong as it should be.
This is due to the way that a candle is made and is designed to be used.  When making a candle, the fragrance oil bonds to the wax particles during creation.  This is done in a liquid state, where the oil is mixed very well but at a low temperature to not burn the oil off.  Just before it gets to the cooling temperature, the wax is poured into its container where it solidifies quickly.
When you put your candle onto a warmer, the warmer melts the wax from the bottom to top, which causes the fragrance to evaporate into the air from the entire candle.  When you burn a candle, the fragrance is only evaporated from the 1/4“to ½ “of melted wax.
Due to this, you can understand how the candle will be fragrant much longer when you light the wick versus putting it on a warming plate.

Candle Uses Other than to Burn

Unstick a drawer
If you have a desk or chest drawer that sticks, remove it and rub a candle on the runners. The drawer will open more smoothly when you slip it back in place.

Make a pincushion
A wide candle makes an ideal pincushion. The wax will help pins and needles glide more easily through fabric too.

Weatherproof your labels
After you address a package with a felt-tip pen, weatherproof the label by rubbing a white candle over the writing. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow will smear the label now.

Quote - Candles

I remember when the candle shop burned down. Everyone stood around singing 'Happy Birthday.'

Where Does Candle Wax Go?

Question: Where Does Candle Wax Go?

Answer: Have you ever noticed how you have less candle after burning than before? This is because the wax oxidizes (burns) in the flame to yield water and carbon dioxide, which dissipate in the air around the candle, in a reaction which also yields light and heat. Candle wax (paraffin) is composed of chains of connected carbon atoms surrounded by hydrogen atoms. These hydrocarbon molecules can burn completely. First the heat of the flame vaporizes the wax molecules and then they react with the oxygen in the air. As long as the wax doesn't melt away from the flame, the flame will consume it completely and leave no ash or wax residue.

What is your favorite product?

Believe it or not, it isn’t the candles.  I love the Homeology products.  I will tell you right off the bat, I am not a cleaner.  Never have been, never will be.  Wish I was.  The Homeology products are our natural cleaners.  They smell wonderful – no opening your window afterwards to get rid of the chemical smell.  And now that I have two kitties running around my house, I don’t have to worry about what they may lick off the floor.

Celebrating 13 Years Today!

This message was sent out to us consultants from Curt, the President of Gold Canyon Candles.

Celebrating 13 Years Today!

If you can imagine that 13 years ago today was my first day at Gold Canyon full time! Karen and I had been working in our kitchen for the previous two years trying to create the perfect candle and together we made the leap of faith to go for it full time. We had a brand new baby and a two-year-old and no income when I quit my job as a CPA. We don't know what we were thinking …new baby and no income …other than we knew we had a product that was better than anything else out there in the marketplace

Well, 13 years later we continue to have The World's Finest products, but more importantly we also have The World's Finest Demonstrators. You are amazing-we couldn't do it without each of you! In the words of our Co-Founder and my wonderful wife… thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'd love to hear about your favorite Gold Canyon memories.

Please post your favourite Gold Canyon products, scents, or anything else you want to share here. :)

And I appreciate your support, and I look forward to many more years working together.

Wedding Sparkle

It’s wedding season and every bride wants their wedding to sparkle! 2010 weddings are trending toward vintage glamour and sparkling diamonds. Get some great Gold Canyon decorating and gift ideas for bridal showers and all the wedding festivities.

Bridal Shower
The bridal shower is one of the first official wedding festivities and the bride wants this party to set the stage for the big day. Whether it’s just the girls or a couples party, the bridal shower is best designed to mimic the wedding theme and colors.

If there’s not a set theme or colors, lots of sparkle will delight the bride in making the day feel extra special. The shower can be decorated with a bolt of economical tulle fabric and Gold Canyon’s new Unscented candles. Include a jeweled beauty like the Jeweled Candle Ring (for Unscented Bella candles) and the Crystal Candle Stands (Set of 3) with the new Enchanting candle. Create an elegant ambience with an array of Unscented tealights spread throughout the rest of the room. If the bride has specific wedding colors, Gold Canyon has 35 different tealight fragrances in tons of colors. A fragrant tealight works great as a shower favor, too.
